Shakey Grounds Seasoning Co.

When I was 8 years old, I would go to the school library, not to play games or look at books on animals or to color, but to look at international foods. I marveled at the beauty of these unique cuisines from across the globe: the bright colors, the culture and the vibrancy of the food.

As I grew, I watched Julia Childs, Jacques Pépin, Ming Tsai and Lidia Bastianich on PBS. Each of them brought their own cultural experience to food that I had never encountered. It piqued my curiosity. I didn’t have access to these types of cuisines where I was from, and there were so few examples of Black chefs on TV to guide my experimentation. I wanted the opportunity to play like those TV chefs, to make food better in my own way.

The spark that would one day become Shakey Grounds was lit.

Shakey Grounds Seasoning Co. is about bringing inventive flavor combinations to your kitchen, the cookout and fish fry. At our core, we want fresh ingredients straight from the earth to support you in your culinary journey. Whether you’re an experienced cook or just starting out, we think our blends are just what you need to take your cooking to the next level.

This is a Black-, Queer-, and Woman-Owned business. Every jar of seasoning that you buy supports this creative endeavor to provide excellent, well-seasoned food to the world.
